Be Kind to the earth

The pillars of our company are to create and share products that are “Good for You, Good for the Earth, Good for Humanity”. I’ll be highlighting the “Good for the Earth” pillar focusing on why we wanted to create a product that is earth friendly and our long-term vision.

When I set out to create a company, I wanted to create something that added to the earth, instead of taking away from it. I think about all the convenience we have in grab and go snacks, how awesome that is, but also how much those wrappers add to the waste piling up.

I certainly don’t have the code cracked on shelf-stable, single-use packaging, but I'd like our brand of Please & Thank You to be a part of that evolution. I’m not naïve to the fact that this will be a long journey and many other very smart people are working on this now, but I’d like our products to be apart of that progression.

It was important to me to build a company with a foundation that includes being kind to the earth. That is why we focused on earth-friendly wrappers, labels, and packaging. Currently, you could take a fully packaged bar and put it into your compost! Now I don’t want you to throw the bar away, but what I’m getting at is that the wrapper and stickers meet the composting standards for industrial composting environments! There’s a BIG upside to this, of course, we are not only taking care of our yourselves, but we are taking care of the earth too.

However, the problem with the compostable packaging is that over time it will change the texture of the bar, in that it lets the moisture out of the bar, so after a while the bar will be less chewy. Although the texture may change over time with this packaging, the food safety doesn’t change, it is still safe for 6+ months.

What you’ll see from me, as we evolve and grow, is that I’ll need to get into new, more retail-friendly packaging. With that may come changes in how compostable/recyclable my packaging is at first, but I’m committed to discovering good alternative options and doing our best to offset our footprint.

Speaking of offsetting our footprint, I’m excited to announce that we will be donating a portion of our sales each month to One Tree Planted @onetreeplanted!

$1 = 1 tree!

We care deeply about the planet and creating a business that gives back to nature. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we’re partnering with One Tree Planted/@onetreeplanted. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for environment.

Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. We’re honored to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as a part of our business model.

Pretty cool, huh! Check them out! Onetreeplanted.org
